LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lady Raiders are headed to one of college tennis' biggest stages as they gear up for the NCAA Doubles Championships beginning Nov. 19 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Â
The Lady Raider duo of Hailey Murphy and Yekaterina Dmitrichenko made program history with a standout performance at the ITA Central Sectional Championships, becoming the first doubles team to win sectionals, earning co-championship honors and qualifying for the NCAA Doubles Championships in the process. This is the third-straight season Tech sent a doubles pair to the NCAA Individual Championships and the first time in program history to do so in three-consecutive years.
Â
Murphy and Dmitrichenko opened sectionals with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory over Houston's Sophie Schouten and Chams Doha Zeghlouli before pulling off an upset against the No. 20-ranked Kansas duo of Heike Janse Van Vuuren and Kyoka Kubo, rallying from a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (2).
Â
They capped their championship run with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 sweep of TCU's Yu-Chin Tsai and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon to clinch co-champion status and remain undefeated at 3-0 as a pairing this fall. Their first-round NCAA matchup will come against Southern California's duo of Lily Fairclough and Daniela Borruel on Wednesday.
Â
Fans can follow along from anywhere, as all matches will be streamed on ESPN+, providing full coverage from Orlando.
