Three Lady Raiders claim singles titles at ACU Invitational

ABILENE, Texas – Texas Tech sent three Lady Raiders to compete at the ACU Invitational this weekend and all three players came back home with a title. Mariia Hlahola, Arina Oreshchenkova and Elena Daskalova earned a singles title after going undefeated in their respective flights while only dropping one set collectively in competition.
In Flight A, Hlahola collected three victories to claim the title. First, she defeated UTEP's Zuzanna Szczepanska by a 7-6 (2), 6-2 score, before beating Texas State's Callie Creath, 6-3, 6-4. She would clinch the title with a victory against ACU's Olivia Sears, 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday morning.
Oreshchenkova won her second-straight title at the ACU Invitational after also taking home the trophy in 2023. She first added a win against Tarleton's Duru Kuscu, 6-4, 6-4, in Flight B, then picked up another win against UTSA's Valeria Sanchez, 6-4, 6-1. The Lady Raider claimed her second singles title with a victory over ACU's Masha Vrsalovic by a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 score. Daskalova took home the Flight C title when she defeated Texas State's Sofia Fortuno, 6-2, 6-2, Tarleton's Noelia Lorca, 6-3, 6-1, and Tarleton's Maria Castano, 6-3, 7-6 (3).
Hlahola and Oreshchenkova paired up for doubles competition in Flight A, advancing to the finals with two consecutive wins. They started off with a victory against ACU's Vrsalovic and Angela Del Campo, 6-2, before overtaking Texas State's Fortuno and Maria Andrea Lora Meza, 6-4. They fell in the title match to SMU's June Bjork and Millie Skelton, 6-4.
Up next, the Lady Raiders go to Fort Worth, Texas to compete at the ITA Texas Regional tournament on Oct. 10-14. Â Â
