Alba Cortina-Pou Advances to Flight Two Finals

Freshman from Spain goes undefeated on the weekend to advance to the singles finals

NORMAN, Okla. – Freshman Alba Cortina-Pou picked up two wins on Saturday to advance to the singles flight two final at the Oklahoma Fall Invitational.

Cortina-Pou defeated Tulsa's Mahitha Dadireddy, 7-6 (5), 6-3, during the quarterfinals before beating Oklahoma's Julie Byrne in two sets (6-3, 6-2). She will face Tulsa's Martha Matoula tomorrow morning to close out an undefeated singles weekend.

Freshman Reagan Collins won her first match in the consolation quarterfinals against North Texas' Alexandra Heczey (7-5, 6-2) and went on to defeat Heczey's teammate, Laura Arciniegas in three sets (3-6, 6-1, 6-4). She will play in the flight two consolation bracket finals tomorrow.

Katelyn Jackson and Lynn Kiro will face off in the loser's bracket semifinals tomorrow after winning their quarterfinal matches in the loser's bracket.

Doubles team of Katelyn Jackson and Lynn Kiro defeated Tulsa's pair of Eizbieta Iwaniuk and Martina Okalova, 7-6, to win the doubles flight one consolation final.
