Dvorak Wins Tournament Title At Ole Miss

2014 Blue Chip freshman Sarah Dvorak proved her mettle on Sunday as she took the individual title at the Ole Miss Fall Invitational.

OXFORD, Miss. - No. 30 Texas Tech closed out play at the 2014 Mississippi Fall Invitational with freshman Sarah Dvorak claiming the tournament's individual title on Sunday.
Dvorak, the No. 10 incoming freshman this season according to TennisRecruiting.com, was the only player in the round robin portion of the schedule to finish undefeated during the three-day event earning individual honors. No. 4 Georgia claimed the team singles crown, while No. 11 Vanderbilt secured the doubles title.
The native of from Kurtistown, Hawai'i, Dvorak toppled former high school All-American Caroline Brinson of Georgia, 6-2, 6-3, on Sunday. The win improved the freshman to 8-4 on the season.
Texas Tech just played five singles matches against Georgia on Sunday due to weather. The team's doubles matches against Vanderbilt were canceled.
Freshman Sabrina Federici, a native of Westhougton, England, dropped Georgia freshman Ellen Perez, 7-6, 7-5, the former No. 59 junior in the world.
Overall, sophomore Lynn Kiro and freshmen Katelyn Jackson and Federici each finished the event 2-1 in singles. In all, the Lady Raiders were 11-6 in singles matches against three Top 30 teams. In doubles, all three teams finished 1-1 for the weekend.
The Lady Raiders will close out the fall portion of the schedule next weekend, as Texas Tech travels to Orlando for the prestigious invitation-only USTA Clay Court Invitational.
