Powell Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

WACO, Texas - Texas Tech junior Taylor Powell was recognized for her work in the classroom Friday as she was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team.
The honor was the first ever for Powell by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It also marked the fourth-straight year where Tech had a student-athlete picked to the District 6 team.
Powell, a native of Henrietta, Texas, has compiled a 4.0 grade-point average while as an animal sciences major at Tech. She is also hitting .265 on the season with one home run and 18 RBI.
She will now advance to the All-America stage of the awards program that will be announced in the upcoming weeks. Tech has had an Academic All-American in each of the past two seasons.
