The win marked Texas Tech's sixth in a row, marking the program's longest winning streak since also winning six-straight from Sept. 2-10, 2006.
The win moved Tech to 6-1 on the year, continuing the program's best start to a season since 2003 where the Red Raiders won its first eight matches that season.
The match was only the second true road contest for the Red Raiders this year as Tech dropped the season opener, 3-1, at TCU.
During Tech's six-match winning streak, the Red Raiders have won five of those matches by a 3-0 sweep. The lone exception was last Saturday when Tech defeated Morehead State in four sets.
Amanda Dowdy finished without a double-double for only the second time this season as she finished with nine kills and four digs. Dowdy did not post a double-double against Grambling State as well after being pulled from that match following the opening set.
UTPA's 11 points in the second set matched the season low for a Tech opponent this season as Grambling State also recorded only 11 points during the opening set on Aug. 27.
The match marked the first time Tech did not have a single player with double-digit kills all season.
