Texas Tech Quotes
Head Coach Shanon Hays
"The big thing is to score early and that didn't happen. You have to overcome certain things and we couldn't overcome Kenzie (Fowler). She moved the ball well in the zone. I like our ball club. The difference was in the circle. The pitcher who had the bigger zone came out on top and Kenzie proved that she was better. Arizona did a really good job of not swinging at borderline pitches and they had a lot of discipline. It's an honor to play here against a team that that has such rich tradition. I feel good about how our ball club handled themselves this weekend and we hope to make it back to Regionals next year."
Junior Logan Hall
"I saw her (Kenzie Fowler) all through high school, so I kind of had a game plan, and our team had a game plan and we were ready to play."
"We will only get better from here. I thought we were better than last year and we can only go up from here. Personally, I'm out here playing hard and playing hard to win. No matter who we are playing whether it be Arizona or another Pac-10 team we are going to go out there and try to get a win, but I thought everyone played hard."
Junior Raven Richardson
"It (the pitching) is nothing we aren't used to. Everyone always says how well the Pac-10 pitching is, but the Big 12 has some great pitching too and it's nothing we aren't used to. Pitching wise, I thought our conference is better."
Arizona Quotes
Pitcher Kenzie Fowler
"It was another good game. They're an aggressive team, got a lot of runners on. It was a good situation for us for next week. We were just fighting to the end."
"I definitely felt better as the weekend went on. I was a little tight when we played Harvard, but then it loosened up the next couple games."
Outfielder Brittany Lastrapes
"On the hard hit to the wall "I went with my ribs and knocked the wind out of me for a second. I did the same thing in high school and it was the worst experience of my life. I don't even want to think about it if the wall was still wood."
Head Coach Mike Candrea
"Well, we got it done. It's nice to put runs on the board, but we did fall asleep a bit in the fifth inning. There were just some little things that we need to tighten up on. I did not want that game to go beyond six innings, because anything could happen."
"Today's game was a great teaching moment for me. I have to get through to the team that we have to be the aggressor. Kenzie Fowler was great, pitching to a very tight strike zone, and it can be frustrating when you don't know which way a pitch is going to be called. It was a good victory and a big step to get the job done when we needed to."
