LUBBOCK, Texas - After advancing to the NCAA Regional Finals a year ago, the Texas Tech softball team begins preparations for its 2011 season with the announcing of its fall exhibition schedule that will pit the Red Raiders in eight exhibition games over the month of October.
All eight games will be played at Rocky Johnson Field, beginning with a doubleheader Oct. 2 against Western Texas College and Eastern New Mexico. Tech turns around the next weekend to face Midwestern and Navarro Junior College on Oct. 9.
The Red Raiders will face Howard College on Oct. 15 and Odessa College on Oct. 21. Tech closes the fall with a doubleheader on Oct. 23, beginning with Lubbock Christian University, which is coached by former Tech baseball assistant coach Daren Hays, the brother of second-year Tech softball coach Shanon Hays. The Red Raiders finish the day against Midland College.
Tech returns 14 letterwinners, including All-Big 12 second team selections Emily Bledsoe, Logan Hall, and Mikey Kenney, off its 2010 squad that finished 38-18 overall after falling to Hawaii in the finals of the NCAA Stanford Regional. Tech's 38 wins were the second-most in the program's history.
