
Red Raiders Unable to Build Momentum Against Illinois State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - For the third-straight weekend, Texas Tech is forced to salvage its weekend in a tournament finale as the Red Raiders fell, 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-15), to Illinois State Saturday morning in the second match of the Rams Volleyball Classic at Moby Arena.
Errors once again proved the major difference for Tech as the Red Raiders committed 21 miscues over three sets, while Illinois State limited itself to only 14. Backed by a .348 attacking percentage, Illinois State led throughout all three sets on its way to improving to 8-2 on the year, while Tech drops to 2-6 overall.
Amanda Dowdy led the Tech attack with 11 kills, while Jackie Vincent added a team-high seven digs. Tech finished the match hitting a season-low .040 on the attack.
Illinois State was led by Mallory Leggett, who led all players with 13 kills, while also adding six digs. Tabitha Visk and Shannon McGlaughlin both added eight kills each for the Redbirds.
Tech closes the Rams Volleyball Classic later this afternoon against Northeastern, beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT. Northeastern faces host Colorado State in the other morning match at 1 p.m. CT.
