LUBBOCK, Texas - With a serious case for earning a bid to the NCAA postseason to be made, Texas Tech Softball (35-12) will host Big 12-leading No. 12/15 Texas (37-10) on Thursday at 7 p.m., and No. 20/22 Texas A&M (36-13) on Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (noon) in its final home contests of the remarkable 2010 season.
Tech, which climbed the conference rankings last week on the heels of four consecutive Big 12 wins, is now 7-8 in conference in sixth place. The final three games of the regular season pits the Red Raiders against the current Big 12 leading Longhorns and the fourth-place (7-6 in Big 12 games) Aggies. (The Aggies will play Baylor tonight in Waco before heading over to the good side of the state.) The Red Raiders will honor, Ashly Jacobs, Leah Legler and graduating player Danielle Matthews, in a senior-day celebration before Sunday's game.
The 2010 season for Tech is currently the most successful home campaign in the program's history with a 21-4 record coming into the weekend and the 35 wins is the fourth-most ever posted by a Red Raider team.
