LUBBOCK, Texas - With new faces spread throughout the diamond, the Texas Tech softball continued its solid results from last season as the Red Raiders began their fall campaign by defeating Western Texas College, 14-0, and Eastern New Mexico, 4-0, Saturday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field.
With six eligible newcomers on his roster, Tech head coach Shanon Hays made sure he got plenty of face time with each of his players as the entire roster appeared at least once in the double-header.
The Red Raiders got timely hitting and some occasional power in the victory of WTC, but in the day's second game, pitching dominated as the Tech staff limited the Eastern New Mexico bats to few hits. Tech was able to use all five of its pitchers and each one built her case to see regular time in the circle this spring.
Tech continues its spring schedule next weekend with another double-header as Midwestern State and Navarro Junior College come to Lubbock. Tech will face Midwestern at 10 a.m. and conclude the day against Navarro J.C. at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at Rocky Johnson Field.
