EL PASO, Texas - Texas Tech softball travels to Lincoln, Neb., to face the Huskers in a Big 12 Conference matchup. Last year in Lubbock, the Red Raiders swept Nebraska for the first time in Texas Tech history. The Huskers lead the all-time series between the two schools, 25-5.
Legler Lets Loose
Junior Leah Legler went 3-4 against Missouri this past weekend, including a 2-2 and one RBI performance on Sunday. Against UTEP, Legler went 4-7, with a 3-4 performance in the nightcap. On the year Legler is batting .323 with 51 hits. Legler now has 140 hits in her career at Texas Tech, good for eighth-best in Texas Tech all-time history, passing Tamara Harrington (1997-2000) who had 139. With her 10 stolen bases on the year, Legler now sits third all-time in stolen bases at Tech with 33.
Eimen, Matthews Help Tech Tie 2008 Triple Total
Elizabeth Eimen and Danielle Matthews each hit a three-bagger against UTEP on Thursday. That gives Eimen her second triple on the season and Matthews the first of her career. The two triples raised the Red Raiders season total to 10, tying lasts years mark with four games to go. This is the first time since 1997-1998 that Tech has had back-to-back double-digit triple totals.
Hamada and Drewry Provide Strong Defensive Presence
Freshman Ashley Hamada has provided a strong presence in right-field this year for the Red Raiders. Hamada has only committed two errors in 41 starts for Texas Tech. Fellow freshman Stephanie Drewry has provided a similar strong presence in left-field committing just three errors in 47 starts this year.
Eimen Continues To Execute
Senior Elizabeth Eimen continues to execute, as she leads the Red Raiders hitting .358 with 54 hits and 16 RBIs. Eimen picked up two hits, an RBI, and a run scored over the weekend against No. 10 Missouri. She also boasts a .982 fielding percentage on the year.
Scouting Nebraska
The Huskers enter the weekend series with an overall record of 31-14. Most recently, Nebraska split a doubleheader with Northern Iowa on Wednesday. The Huskers are led by Amanda Duran hitting .356 with 42 hits and 32 RBIs. In the circle, Molly Hill leads the Huskers with an ERA of 1.28 and a record of 21-10. Nebraska leads the series 25-5, and is 11-1 all-time against Texas Tech in Lincoln.
