LUBBOCK, Texas - Head Coach Teresa Wilson announced that a new format for single-day fall clinics for 2007 will be implemented at the annual Texas Tech Softball Clinics. This year the clinics will be offered on Sunday, September 30 and Sunday, November 18 and will not be broken down into sessions for pitchers and or offensive/defensive players. Instead, there will be five full hours of instruction and a two hour lunch break each day.
"We're hoping that this flexibility and simplicity will allow our participants to get specialized instruction based on their individual preferences in a more manageable way. We will have instructors who will work with pitchers or instructors who will work with hitters or position players, but will allow anyone to benefit from whatever instruction they wish," Teresa Wilson said earlier this week.
Previously, participants selected either a pitching format date and time or an offense/defense format. Clinics will be $100 for a complete five-hour day. Both clinics will be conducted in the Athletic Training Center found south of the Jones/ATT Stadium on the campus beginning at 9 a.m. each day. Sessions will break at 11:30 a.m. for a two-hour lunch and will resume at 1:30 p.m. for afternoon sessions. (There is no reduced fare for only attending one session as it is intended that each participant stay for the full day.)
As always, pitchers must furnish their own catchers (no fee for the catcher) and all participants should bring their own equipment (gloves, helmets, bats, etc.) The indoor facility features astroturf, so only turf shoes are recommended.
Fall clinics are sponsored by Texas Tech Softball with proceeds going to the team. For more information click the link at the right under 2007 Clinics and link to the application for the Fall Clinic, or contact Julie Hauck at julie.hauck@ttu.edu.
