LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech stood toe-to-toe with a strong Missouri squad Saturday night, but the Tigers edged by the Red Raiders 3-0 (30-28, 30-26 and 30-26) in a close battle in the United Spirit Arena.
Tech fell to 7-19, 1-16 on the year. With the win, Missouri improved to 15-10 and evened its Big 12 record at 8-8.
Three Red Raiders knocked down double-digit kills on the night, led by Amy Gandy and Michelle Flores' 13 apiece. Gandy also added seven digs and a block on the evening. Freshman Caroline Courtney recorded 11 kills, while Alicia Ostmeyer added five to go with her team-high four blocks. Setter Kourtney Dunnam spread the Tech attack with a career-best 41 assists. Mizzou came out the aggressor early in game one and took an early three-point lead. Tech battled back through the middle part of the game and finally evened the tally at 21 on a block from Alicia Ostmeyer. The Tigers made a run to go up by four at 26-22 only to see Tech come back to tie the action. Missouri got the edge at the end and won the game 30-28.
Game two was back and forth almost the entire way. The Tigers pulled ahead with a small run in the latter part and took the game 30-26.
The Red Raiders came out aggressive out of the locker room and stayed right with Mizzou, matching the Tigers blow for blow. A big run in the middle of the match gave Missouri the advantage and they once squeaked by Tech 30-26 to complete the sweep.

Tech will return to action Wednesday night when it travels to Austin, Texas for a showdown with the No. 3-ranked Texas Longhorns.
