
Red Raiders Drop Four-Game Match to Sooners

NORMAN, Okla. - After capturing the first game, the Texas Tech volleyball squad dropped the next three to fall 3-1 to the 15th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday. The Red Raiders captured the first point in every game, but fell by scores of 30-27, 28-30, 22-30, 28-30 to the Sooners.
The Red Raiders fared well in hitting, accumulating a .216 percentage on 68 kills and 28 errors on 185 total attempts. Oklahoma had .244 hitting on the night with 66 kills and 23 errors on 176 total attempts. The remaining stats were fairly even with Tech tallying eight aces, 70 digs and 10 blocks with the Sooners recording nine aces, 73 digs and 13.5 blocks.
Philister Sang registered 21 kills on the night with .269 hitting and added nine digs and three aces. Brittany Hughes recorded 12 kills and Alicia Ostmeyer chipped in 11. Leading in digs was senior Kiley Lyons with 17, with Jenn Harrell adding 15. Emily Zielger notched a double-double on the night with 26 assists and 12 digs. Holly Hicks tallied 19 assists on the night, sharing setting duties with Ziegler.
