
Red Raiders Fall in Four on Senior Night

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Kansas State Wildcats spoiled the night for the Texas Tech Red Raiders seniors, as they defeated Tech 3-1 on Wednesday. The Red Raiders came out strong to capture the first game on Senior Night, but fell in the next three to lose by scores of 31-29, 24-30, 21-30, 18-30. Texas Tech is now 12-16 on the season with a 5-14 Big 12 record. Kansas State improves to 11-18, 3-16 in the conference.
The Wildcats out-hit the Red Raiders on the night, as they averaged .324 compared to Tech's .199. Tech tallied 65 kills with 32 errors on 166 total attempts. The Red and Black recorded their best hitting of the night in the first game with a .295 percentage on 22 kills and nine errors. Kansas State improved with each game, going from .220 hitting in the first to .438 in the fourth.
Three Red Raiders registered double-digit kills, with senior Philister Sang leading the way with 18. Amy Charlebois added 12, while Alicia Ostmeyer chipped in 11. Sang also recorded 13 digs to complete a double-double, marking her 12th of the season. Freshman Jenn Harrell led in digs with 15, her 11th match of 15 or more. Holly Hicks finished with 27 assists to lead all Red Raiders, while Emily Ziegler was not far behind with 25. Ostmeyer led defensively in blocks with five assisted, with Charlebois, Sang and senior Robyn Bucy each recording one solo.
