
No. 1 Nebraska Defeats Tech in Three

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech fell to the nation's top-ranked Nebraska Huskers in three games at the United Spirit Arena on Wednesday. The Red Raiders drop to 11-12 on the season and 4-10 in Big 12 play. Nebraska remains undefeated on the season with a 21-0 overall record, 13-0 Big 12. The Huskers won the second match between the two squads by scores of 30-16, 30-21, 30-24.
Nebraska outhit Tech .318 (52 kills, 17 errors, 110 total attacks) to .102 (35 kills, 24 errors, 108 total attacks). The Huskers dominated the first game with .600 hitting to Tech's .000 and prevented Tech from having any scoring run beyond two points. After being up 19-11 and forcing Tech to call a timeout, Nebraska went on an 11-5 run to end the game 30-16.
In game two, Nebraska came out with a four-point run to start the frame. The Red Raiders crept back in to earn an 11-all tie. Tech remained close until Nebraska turned a 21-19 lead into a 27-19 advantage. The Huskers went on to win 30-21 with .222 hitting as Tech hit .162.
Tech started out slow in the third frame to eventually find themselves down 20-10, forcing a timeout. The Red Raiders then went on to an 8-5 run before the Huskers called their only timeout of the match. Despite getting as close as three at 27-24, Nebraska proved to be too much as they captured the victory with a three-point run to end the game at 30-24.
Philister Sang led the Red Raiders with 14 kills, being the only Red Raider to accumulate double-digit kills. Holly Hicks led the setting effort for the night with 25 assists. Amanda Hiller led defensively with 12 digs, while Amy Charlebois and Laura Gottschalk each tallied two block assists.
The Red Raiders have a week off before facing Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. Tech will face the Sooners on Wednesday, Nov. 8th, with a 7 p.m. first serve. For complete coverage, please visit www.texastech.com.
