Texas Tech Softball Team Hosts First Tournament for Fall

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team is hosting a Fall Tournament this weekend. Games will be on Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m. with all Lady Raider games at Rocky Johnson Field.
The Lady Raiders are looking to mix in six new players with the 12 returning players from last season's team that went 22-36 for the overall season and 2-16 in Big 12 play.
The team will be looking to the leadership of senior Kelly Rhyne who was second in batting average last season at .339 and fired out 20 hits and pounded in 27 RBI. Rhyne played in all 58 games and made 174 appearances at the plate.
Another player who will be filling a leadership role will be junior pitcher Erin Crawford who posted an ERA of 2.36 last season with a record of 10-15. Crawford struck out 128 batters and allowed only 60 walks in 148 innings of play.
This will be the first fall tournament for the Lady Raiders as they will also be competing in the Houston Fall Tournament Oct. 16-17.
