
Texas Tech Softball Team Begins Fall Practice

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team has begun preparations for the upcoming season as practices are underway at Rocky Johnson Field.
This season, the Lady Raiders will have a young team as five freshmen and one transfer have joined the mix of 12 returnees from last years team that went 22-36 for the overall season and 2-16 in Big 12 play.
The team will be lead by senior Kelly Rhyne who was second on the team in batting average with .339 and played in all 58 games last season making 174 appearances at the plate.
Pitcher Erin Crawford will be returning to the mound for her third season with the Lady Raiders as last season she posted an ERA of 2.36 with a record of 10-15 and had 128 strikeouts and 60 walks in 148 innings of play.
The Lady Raiders have two fall tournaments this season. The Texas Tech Fall Tournament is October 2-3 where there will be two fields for the teams to play on and games will begin at 9 a.m. both days. The team will then travel to Houston to participate in the Fall Tournament there which will be October 16-17.
The team practices are Monday through Thursday beginning at 3:30 p.m. which are open to the public.
