LUBBOCK, Texas - Junior Natalie Enderlin hit a game winning RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Texas Tech Softball to a sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader at Rocky Johnson Field on Thursday afternoon. Before the game, the team honored its three seniors as a part of senior day.
In the first game, the Lady Raiders (21-34) scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Both runs would come across to score when the Ranger's catcher threw wildly past third base while attempting to gun down Tech's Natalie Kula who was trying to steal third. Kula was followed by shortstop Heather Parker, who came around all the way from third to score.
The pair of runs would prove to be all that Tech starter Keely Tucker needed in the contest. Tucker (7-9) finished with her fourth complete game shutout of the season while striking out three and walking only one.
Tech was forced to over come some adversity in game two. Entering the seventh inning with a 4-0 lead, the Rangers rallied to plate four runs and sent the game to the bottom of the seventh tied at 4-4. In the bottom half of the frame, Kula led off with a double to right center field and was followed two batters later by Ashley Parker who bunted for a single to set the table for Enderlin, who stepped to the plate with runners on second and third and doubled to left field to score Kula and give the Lady Raiders the sweep.
Texas Tech softball will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Columbia, Missouri, to battle the Missouri Tigers.
