
Sooners Await Tech Softball in Norman This Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - After six home games in a week, Texas Tech softball will depart Lubbock this week to travel to Norman, Okla., to battle the Oklahoma Sooners in a doubleheader Wednesday, April 19.
The Lady Raiders are 19-30 overall and hold a 1-11 mark in Big 12 play. The team is led by senior Elyssa Sigala, who holds team-highs of .371 average, 10 home runs and 32 RBI, while junior Kelly Rhyne is batting .366 and hit her third home run of the season in Sunday's loss to Texas A&M. As a team, Tech is batting .283 in conference play, which is the second-best team batting average in the Big 12.
Oklahoma, the coaches preseason pick to win the conference crown, enters the twin bill with a 31-16-1 record and is tied for fifth in the conference standings with a 5-6 record in league play. The Sooners have been in the national rankings all season and currently are 18th in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and 17th in the NFCA Division I Top 25. Catcher Heather Scaglione paces the team with a .411 average, 13 home runs and 38 RBI.
Game times for the doubleheader are slated for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
