OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Senior pitcher Amanda Renfro and junior first baseman Carmen Grindell were both named to the Big 12 All-Tournament team on Saturday following the tourney championship game, adding to their list of postseason accomplishments.
Renfro posted a 3-1 record with a 0.48 earned-run-average during the four-day tourney, as the Red Raiders finished third. The Houston, Texas, native struck out 26 batters in 29.0 innings of work, allowing just three runs, two earned, and opponents batted just .134 against her.
Renfro was named First Team All-Big 12 on Wednesday, her second first team selection during her four years as a Red Raider.
Grindell went 3-for-13 in Tech's five games, but more importantly hit two home runs, one a game-winner. The Carrollton, Texas, native had a solo home run to put the Red Raiders ahead 1-0 against defending national champion Oklahoma on Thursday night, a game the Sooners would later win 2-1. She also hit a solo shot to leadoff the seventh against Texas A&M on Friday morning, giving Tech a 1-0 victory over TAMU.
Grindell was voted Second Team All-Big 12, and was also named Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Southwest Texas State.
The Red Raiders await Sunday night's NCAA selection announcement at 7:30 p.m. to find out where and whom they will play in the NCAA Tournament, which begins Thursday at eight host sites.
