Men's Tennis Drops Final Home Match

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team dropped its final home match of the season today at the Texas Tech rec courts against New Mexico State, 4-3. The Red Raiders fall to 6-11 overall and 1-3 in league play. The Aggies advance to 9-10 overall.
In doubles action the New Mexico State earned its first win of the day by taking all three doubles positions.
Senior Borut Martincevic lost in his final home match of his career to Cesar Obieta in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Martincevic drops to 5-9 overall with most of his action coming in the No. 1 position.
In position No. 3, Tech earned its first win in the most heated match of the day. Richard Crabtree defeated Alvaro Dominguez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Crabtree earned a point due to unsports-manlike behavior.
Tech won the No. 5 and 6 positions. In the No. 6 position, Costa Yiannakapolous defeated Ludo Bartha in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. He improves to 6-9 on the year and is on a two-match win streak.
All eyes went to court two, the decider of the match, with Tech's Ben Gudzelak and NMSU's Marc Legris. The match went into a third-set tiebreaker before Legris defeated Gudzelak, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
The Red Raiders swing back into action on Thursday, April 5 in College Station, Texas, to battle the Texas A&M Aggies.
