Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech head softball coach Renee Luers-Gillispie announced today the hiring of assistant coaches Carla Marchetti and Christopher Dillon who will join the Red Raider softball program.
"I am extremely happy to be at Texas Tech and within the Big 12 Conference," said Marchetti. "I look forward to the opportunities to continue to build this program and be a yearly contender in the NCAA tournament."
Marchetti comes to Texas Tech after spending four seasons with the Jayhawk softball program at the University of Kansas. She coached two NCAA tournament teams while at Kansas and finished in the top four of the Big 12 the last two seasons. Prior to her four-year stint at Kansas, Marchetti was an assistant at Northern Illinois.
Marchetti will coach the outfield and will assist in the hitting duties.
Dillon joins the Red Raiders after spending his last coaching season at Central Arizona College where he was the hitting instructor and was responsible for the infield. Prior to Central Arizona, Dillon spent two seasons at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he was hitting instructor.
"I am thrilled about the opportunity to coach under Coach Gillispie and to be part of a growing softball program at Texas Tech," said Dillon. "She (Coach Gillispie) has built a strong foundation there and I look forward to contributing."
Dillon will be responsible for the infield as well as assisting Marchetti with hitting duties.
