TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Four members of the Texas Tech University women's tennis squad are in action this weekend at the Florida State 1998 Lady Seminole Classic.
Alenka Ovin, 5-2 going into competition today, lost a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Minnesota's second-seeded Nora Sauska in the round of 16 in the Women's Singles "A" bracket. Ovin, who advanced to the round of 16 by default, will play Georgia Southern's Isabella Kling on Saturday morning in consolation play. Also in the "A" bracket, Amanda Earhart dropped a 6-2, 6-3 match to South Florida's Tina Harrison. Earhart also lost in the consolation round today to Kling, 6-4, 6-3.
In the Women's Singles "C" bracket, Ghislaine Hernandez fell in three sets to Vanderbilt's Eloise Harper, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Hernandez then lost in consolation play to Jacksonville's Pollyanna McGowan, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, Hernandez and Ovin lost to South Florida's Harrison and Natalie Schwartz, 8-1.
