LUBBOCK, Texas - The Missouri women's tennis team was no match for Texas Tech on Sunday at the Athletic Training Center, losing 6-3. The Red Raiders took four of six singles matches and two out of three doubles contests. The win moves Texas Tech to 2-3 in the Big 12 (4-6 overall).
Leading the way for the Red Raiders was sophomore Alenka Ovin and junior Amanda Earhart, both of whom posted impressive victories. Ovin beat Jelena Kocergin 6-0, 6-1 and Earhart knocked off Andrea Friedman 6-2, 6-0. Also winning for Tech was Zana Zlebnik and Noel Ruiz.
The Red Raiders came out with a new doubles lineup for the second day in a row, with better results to show for it. Zlebnik teamed with Earhart again but this time at No. 1 doubles. They were defeated 9-7. Ovin and Ana Serrot competed at No. 2, winning 8-4 and Misty Meyer and Noel Ruiz were reunited at No. 3 doubles following a one match hiatus. They were victorious by a count of 8-1.
The Red Raiders will be in action again on Sunday, March 7 at 10:00 am against the University of Kansas. The match will be indoors at the ATC. Admission is free.
