Raiders Travel to Troy Cox Tournament

The Texas Tech softball team will head west once again this weekend as they will travel to Las Cruces, N.M. for the Troy Cox Softball Classic.
The Red Raiders will be looking for some offensive consistency in hopes of improving their 8-9 season record. Texas Tech is being led by junior Tamara Harrington (16 hits on 51 at-bats-.314), sophomore Sandy Butler (15 hits on 49 at-bats-.306) and senior Kim Martinez (.269 batting average). Martinez also leads the team in home runs with four.
Tech will play the University of New Mexico, Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and will play Northwestern University at 4:00 p.m.. Tech went 1-2 against UNM earlier in the season at the University of New Mexico Tournament. Tech defeated Northwestern 15-2 in the consolation bracket of the UTA/Pepsi Tournament in Dallas Feb, 14.
On Saturday, Tech will take on Butler University at 10:00 a.m. and Penn State at 2:00 p.m.. The Red Raiders will conclude tournament play in bracket competition on Sunday.
