Tech Softball Releases 2000 Schedule

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team announced their 2000 schedule, which includes two games against the 1999 NCAA National Champions UCLA Bruins.
Texas Tech, coming off the best year in program history, will play five pre-conference tournaments on the road. The team will travel to Albuquerque, N.M. for the UNM Diamond 2000 Tournament to start off the season. Tech will then make its first trip out of the continental United States when the team travels to Hawaii for the Paradise Classic hosted by the University of Hawaii. The Red Raiders are scheduled to face-off against defending national champions UCLA in the first game of the tournament.
Tech, will conclude pre-conference play with trips to the Troy Cox Tournament (Las Cruces, N.M. - New Mexico State), Texas A&M Corpus Christi Classic, and the Bulldog Classic (Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State University). Texas Tech will host its first tournament in two years on March 18th and 19th. The Red Raider Invitational will feature Texas Tech, New Mexico State and San Diego State.
Only one pre-conference doubleheader has been scheduled for 2000 as the UTSA Roadrunners will travel to Lubbock for a series on March 15.
Texas Tech will begin conference play on March 25, in Lubbock, when they host the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. Tech will play Nebraska, Texas, Missouri and Baylor in Lubbock while going on the road to face Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa State and Texas A&M.
The 2000 Big 12 Tournament has been scheduled for May 10-13 in Oklahoma City.
