Beatriz Machado Santos is another freshman that could make an immediate impact in the rotation at Texas Tech. She is a part of the highest-ranked recruiting class in the history of Texas Tech at No. 16.

Machado Santos is the reigning Portuguese Under-18 singles national champion and a member of the U18 national team champion, where she played No. 1 singles ... selected to represent Portugal at the U18 European Individual Championships and the U18 European Team Championships last summer ... a 2012 doubles regional champion in Portugal, she won national doubles titles in U12, U14 and U16 ... she was also the youngest player awarded a wild card to the qualifying of the WTA Estoril Open in 2010 ... ranked seventh in Portugal and No. 1014 in the world as a junior ... chose Texas Tech over Florida State, Clemson, TCU and Maryland.
