Powell posted a stellar career during her time at Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Ga., raking in numerous awards … Powell averaged 14.3 points and 10.1 rebounds a game as a senior to be named Honorable Mention Atlanta All-Metro, and help the Patriots to an 18-11 season and a spot in the state quarterfinals … As a junior, Powell was named Region Player of the Year and County Defensive Player of the Year, while being named as a 4A All-State selection … Those honors followed a 4A Region First Team selection as a sophomore and her County Player of the Year honor as a freshman … Boasting averages of 16.8 points, 10 rebounds and two steals per game, Powell led her team to regional titles three years in a row, along with a state semifinal appearance her freshman season and a state quarterfinal appearance as a sophomore … Powell was ranked as the No. 13 power forward in this year's class by ESPN.
