Cruz Davis signed with Texas Tech on April 17, 2026 and will join the Red Raiders for the 2026-27 season.
Davis averaged 20.1 points, 4.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game last season at Hofstra – earning Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and leading his team to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
A Plano, Texas native, Davis returns to his home state after spending two seasons at Hofstra, one at St. John's and his freshman year at Iona. Davis will arrive at Tech this summer having already scored 1,327 points through 95 career games. Last season, Davis was 82-for-205 (40.0%) on 3-pointers and has made 152 3-pointers in his career. Davis scored 20-plus points in 18 games last season, including going for 30-plus points in five games. He had a career-high 36 points at Pitt after making 5-of-11 3-pointers while also having seven assists and also had 30 points with five 3s in a CAA Tournament win over William & Mary. Davis produced a season-high nine assists and scored 22 points in a win over Syracuse and recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds against Malloy. For the season, Davis shot 239-for-543 (44.0%) from the field and had 17 games with three or more 3-pointers. In his final game at Hofstra, Davis provided 14 points and six assists in a loss to Alabama in the NCAA Tournament First Round. A starter in all 35 games for Hofstra last season, Davis played 40-plus minutes in 21 games and ranked third nationally by playing 37:54 minutes per game.
ESPN ranked Davis at No. 52 in its top 100 men's basketball players in the transfer portal.
Along with earning CAA Player of the Year, his junior season saw him earn All-CAA First Team, All-CAA Championship Team and three selections as the CAA Player of the Week. He was a USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week selection on December 9 and was named the USBWA Robertson National Mid-Major Player of the Month in December. His stellar junior season followed him averaging 14.4 points and 4.4 assists per game as a sophomore in his first season at Hofstra.
Prior to Hofstra, Davis spent one season at St. John's and one at Iona. He was limited to four games due to injury at St. John's and received a medical redshirt. As a freshman, Davis earned All-MAAC Rookie Team honors at Iona after averaging 6.5 points and 1.0 assists per game.
Davis, who is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard, played at iSchool of Lewisville before transferring to Huntington Prep in West Virginia where he rose to a four-star on ESPN.com and a No. 27 positional ranking for the class. A dynamic scorer, he completed his prep career with 1,153 points before joining Iona for the 2022-23 season to begin his collegiate career.
