Saw action in one game against UTEP (9/7) for the Red Raiders during his first season with the team … selected to lead the team out with the U.S. flag against TCU (11/16) in honor of his military service … named a nominee for the Armed Forces Merit Award, which is presented by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).
TEXAS TECH CAREER
Enrolled at Texas Tech to start the 2018 fall semester ... joined the football program at the start of 2019 spring practices through an open tryout ... remains on reserve duty with U.S. Navy.
PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH
Spent a total of six years as a 2nd class petty officer in the U.S. Navy ... was on active duty for four years and a reserve for two others ... served as Master at Arms ... deployed twice on active duty, the first of which was from April 2013 to April 2015 at NSA Bahrain and Offutt Air Force Base ... second deployment was from April 2015 to August 2016 at ISA Air Base ... earned two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the first in Bahrain in 2015 and the other in November 2018 ... enrolled at Midwestern State in August 2016 after returning to the United States ... redshirted the 2016 season as a member of Midwestern’s footbal program ... did not play in 2017 due to training for his March 2018 deployment to Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
