Made 14 appearances on the mound, starting three games, in his freshman campaign at Texas Tech … put together a 5.31 ERA after tossing 20.1 innings for an 0-1 record … struck out 17 batters, while giving up 12 earned runs and 15 walks … allowed 23 hits with just six for extra bases … recorded a season-high three strikeouts against Kansas on May 19 … did not allow a hit in each of his first three outings … half of his outings were shutout performances … BIG 12 GAMES … pieced together a 4.26 ERA over four appearances … had an 0-1 record after tossing 6.1 innings of work … struck out seven and walked two, while giving up three earned runs on seven hits … NON-BIG 12 GAMES … pitched in 10 non-conference games, starting three … had a 5.79 ERA after throwing 14.0 innings … struck out 10 and walked 13 … gave up nine runs on 16 hits, with just four going for extra bases … HOME GAMES … made seven appearances at home, putting together a 2.61 ERA and an 0-1 record … tossed 10.1 frames, striking out 11 and only walking four … allowed three earned runs on seven hits … opponents hit just .189 against him inside the confines of Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park … NIGHT GAMES … had two starts and six overall outings at night … pieced together a 2.89 ERA over 9.1 innings of work … struck out 10 and walked seven … gave up just three earned runs and 11 hits … NCAA TOURNAMENT … pitched in relief for 1.0 frame, striking out one and walking two against Sam Houston State on June 4 … SITUATIONAL … right-handed batters hit just .244 against him … opponents hit .269 against him with two outs.

Four-year letterwinner for coach Scott Sanders at Maud High School … helped Maud HS to four-straight postseason appearances, including the regional final in 2016 … tossed a 10-2 record senior season behind a 0.67 ERA and 165 strikeouts … senior year also included four no-hitter performances … earned All-State First Team honors both senior & junior seasons … recorded an 8-2 record as a junior with a 0.61 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 2015 … threw three 16+ strikeout no-hitters as a junior, including a 20-strikeout performance … All-State selection by both the Texas Sports Writers Association and the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (2015) … earned Region Pitcher of the Year by Texarkana Gazette ... also received Perfect Game Preseason All-American Honorable Mention honors (2016) ...
