The Red Raiders will seek their 125th all-time win at the John Walker Soccer Complex
LUBBOCK, Texas – After a short trip to Dallas that resulted in a 1-1 tie at SMU, RV/No. 17 Texas Tech returns home for the start of a two-match homestand Sunday night when the Aztecs of San Diego State return a home-and-home deal signed prior to the 2025 season.
First touch from the John Walker Soccer Complex is set for 7 p.m.
Seeking win No. 125 all-time at the facility, Tech enters Sunday's match unbeaten over its last 10 overall matches (4-0-6) dating back to last Oct. 23 at No. 22/7 Colorado. The Red Raiders are also 11-0-5 in their last 16 matches contested in Texas and are unbeaten at home since a 2024, 2-1 loss to BYU. Tech's home unbeaten streak sits at 13 matches (9-0-4) since the last second set back to the Cougars.
Tech is 25-1-5 in its last 31 regular season home matches, and is 28-2-6 in the 36 home matches contested since the installation of the grass surface prior to the start of the 2023 season.
The Red Raiders are a perfect 5-0-0 all-time against SDSU and have outscored the Aztecs 14-2 over the previous five matchups.
San Diego State enters Sunday's contest at 3-1-1 overall after a physical 1-1 draw Thursday night at Big 12 foe Oklahoma State that featured seven yellow cards.
SDSU took a 1-0 lead before allowing the Cowgirls to equalize on a penalty kick in the 75th minute. The PK awarded to OSU was one of two for the Cowgirls on the night as SDSU keeper Kailey Carlen denied a 14th minute PK attempt.
On the year the Aztecs have outscored opponents 11-2 including a 7-0 drubbing of Pacfic last week. Four different SDSU players have scored twice to lead the team while GK Kailey Carlen has started all five matches for her Aztec side. Carlen is 3-1-1 and has made 12 saves.

streak of finding a way to get a result in their next match following a setback or draw as Tech
is 12-0-1 following either a draw or setback dating back to 2023 when Tech drew Princeton
(advanced on PKs) before losing 1-0 in the Round of 16. The Red Raiders went a perfect 6-0-0
a season ago when following a loss or draw, and 5-0-0 in 2024. The Red Raiders are 17-1-1
since the start of the 2023 season after a loss or draw and 1-0-1 this year.
QUICK KICKS
•RV/No. 17 Texas Tech returns home for the start of the non-conference ending two-match homestand on Sunday night for the matchup with San Diego State.
• The Red Raiders enter the contest riding a 13-match home unbeaten streak overall (9-0-4) and a 17-match non-conference home unbeaten streak (16-0-1).
• The Red Raiders are also 37-1-2 in the last 40 home non-conference home matches dating back to a 2016 home loss to No. 19 California, 4-0. Last Thursday's 1-1 draw against Pepperdine snapped a 15-match home non-conference winning streak that dated back to the 2022 season.
•The Red Raiders have turned Ft. Walker into one of the best home field advantages in all of college soccer as since the installation of the natural grass surface before the 2023 season, the Red Raiders are now 28-2-6 in the 36 total home matches on the grass surface and 25-1-5 in the 31 regular season home matches at Walker. Tech is an impressive +73 in goal differential at home since the 2023 home opener.
•Walker has also been the place to be on campus this Fall so far as Tech has drawn nearly 2500 fans on average over the first two contests this season. After inching close to setting a facility record in the contest against Boise State (1863), Tech eclipsed 2800 in the most recent home match against Pepperdine.
•Leveling up on the schedule front, Tech's five non-conference opponents are a combined 16-6-7 so far in 2026 and are 16-4-5 in the games not against Tech. Four of Tech's five previous opponents are over .500 and three have just one loss. Boise State's lone loss was to Tech back on Aug. 23.
• As has become a staple under head coach Tom Stone, a senior breakout star has become to emerge for the Red Raiders as senior Storie Sexton
has now scored twice this season. Entering the year with just three total goals in her previous three seasons and 58 career games, Sexton has already tied her career-high in goals with two. In addition to scoring the go-ahead goal against SMU on Thursday night, Sexton scored the game-winner in the Red Raiders season-opener against Hawaii.
•Building through the back, Tech has posed one of the nation's strongest defensive units so far, as through five games the Red Raiders have allowed just two total goals and have not allowed a goal in the first half this season. The Red Raiders have owned the first half of contests, scoring three of their five goals in the first 45 minutes of games. Tech is +15 this season in shot margin and have outscored opponents 5-2.
