The Red Raiders struck first on Storie Sexton’s second goal of the season before playing to a stalemate

DALLAS -- RV/No. 17 Texas Tech struck first on a Storie Sexton goal, before allowing a 73rd minute equalizer in Thursday's 1-1 draw against SMU at Washburne Stadium in Dallas.

Playing at its former Southwest Conference for the first time since 2008, Texas Tech (2-0-3) was unable to close out its 13th-straight win following a loss or draw. The Red Raiders did however extend their unbeaten streak to 10 (4-0-6) since a 3-0 loss at Colorado last Oct. 23. Tech also extended its in-state unbeaten streak to 16 (11-0-5) since a 2-1 loss against BYU back in 2024.

Up 1-0 at the break after a perfect ball from versatile winger, Alana Harry connected with Sexton, the Red Raiders were less than 20 minutes away from a pivotal win before seeing SMU (4-1-2) equalize on a 73rd minute strike from Julianne Richter.

After a back-and-forth start saw the teams take 10 of the matches 16 corners, it was the 39th-minute dime from Harry to Sexton on the doorstep that gave Tech the lead. Showing the poise of a senior, Sexton walked the ball home for her third career goal and second of her senior campaign.

Following the intermission, the Red Raiders managed just a pair of shots on Kylie Bahr headers in the 86th and 89th minutes. The final shot from Bahr was a rising header that narrowly missed clipping the top of the goal before sailing over for an SMU goal kick.

In the second-straight draw, Tech goalkeeper Addie Todd made five key stops to preserve the result for her Red Raider side.

After tallying 10 shots in the first half, the Red Raiders were outshot 17-12 as the two sides each attempted eight corners.
