Men's Golf announces 2026-27 schedule
August 06, 2026 | Men's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech men's golf head coach Greg Sands announced the program's 2026-27 schedule on Thursday, featuring 10 regular-season tournaments with four fall events and six spring tournaments leading into postseason play. The Red Raiders will compete at some of the nation's premier and most challenging courses, providing one of the country's toughest schedules in preparation for postseason play for a Texas Tech team that finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 6 nationally by Clippd.
Should the Red Raiders qualify for NCAA Regional play for the 25th consecutive season, they will have the opportunity to begin postseason play on their home course as The Rawls Course will serve as one of the six host sites for this year's regional round, May 17-19. In addition to the Lubbock Regional, other host sites will be at Bloomington, Indiana (Pfau Golf Course, hosted by Indiana), Stillwater, Oklahoma (Karsten Creek Golf Club, hosted by Oklahoma State), Murrells Inlet, South Carolina (TPC Myrtle Beach, hosted by Coastal Carolina), Marana, Arizona (Gallery Golf Club, hosted by Arizona), and Loudon, Tennessee (Tennessee National, hosted by Tennessee).
The 2027 Lubbock Regional will be the fifth NCAA event hosted at The Rawls Course. Texas Tech previously hosted the NCAA Men's Regional in 2015, while NCAA Women's Regionals were held in 2005, 2017 and 2025 at The Rawls Course. The Red Raiders advanced through the 2015 regional for their seventh NCAA Championship appearance under Sands, led by former Red Raider Clement Sordet, who shared medalist honors with Houston's Blair Hamilton.
Texas Tech saw its 2025-26 season come to an end at the NCAA Corvallis Regional, finishing four shots shy of advancing to the NCAA Championship Finals and ending the program's five-year streak of national championship appearances. The Red Raiders will seek their 14th NCAA Championship appearance under Sands and the 18th in program history this season.
The fall season begins Sept. 13 at the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio, where Inverness Club will host the event over three days for the first time. The field includes 11 teams that qualified for NCAA postseason play last season: Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.
Texas Tech will then return to the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational (Sept. 18-20) and the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 28-29) before closing the fall season at Big 12 Match Play (Oct. 12-14) at Salt Lake Country Club.
The spring season opens in Hawaii, Feb. 4-6, marking the Red Raiders' sixth consecutive trip to the islands for spring competition. Texas Tech will then compete at the Las Vegas Collegiate, Feb. 28-March 2, before heading east for consecutive events in Florida with appearances at The Hayt at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach (March 6-8) and the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian Golf Club in Palm City (March 22-23).
The Red Raiders return to the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, on April 3-4, the weekend before Masters Week begins. Texas Tech will then close the regular season at the 80th Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, California. The historic event is traditionally broadcast on Golf Channel.
The Big 12 Championship will be contested April 26-28 at Big Easy Ranch in Columbus, Texas, marking the first time the conference championship will be played at the venue. The Covey at Big Easy Ranch opened in 2023 and is located approximately 70 miles west of Houston. The Chet Williams-designed course, which stretches more than 7,500 yards, is ranked as the top course in Texas by the Dallas Morning News and was named the Best New Private Course in the United States by Golf Digest in 2025.
