Malachi Snow broke a 15-year record in the 110m hurdles
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The men's Texas Tech track and field team wrapped its competition at the NCAA West First Rounds Friday evening at John McDonnell Field.

B.J. Jennings was the first Tech athlete to qualify for the national meet. On his last clearance in the high jump, Jennings soared over the bar at 2.20m (7-2 ½) finishing ninth overall. About two hours later, the 4x100 team of Braylin Byrd, Johnathan Crawford, Josiyah Taylor and Kimarlie Stewart placed second in their heat for the auto qualifier. The quartet turned in a time of 38.96 – sixth overall Friday.
Titus Kimaru cruised to a win in the first heat of the steeplechase as he went 8:28.68 for a new facility record – Daniel Lincoln of Arkansas held the record of 8:29.16 since 2002. The time also puts him No. 2 all-time for Tech, only behind his school record of 8:18.26
Malachi Snow broke the school record in the 110m hurdles and booked his trip to Eugene. Snow, who finished second in his heat, ran a 13.18 (+0.2w), taking down the 13.23 time of Tech legend and Hall of Famer Omo Osaghae that stood since 2011.
John Sherman will represent the Red Raiders in the 100m at Hayward Field as he grabbed one of the auto qualifiers placing second in his heat with a time of 10.14 (+1.2w). Stephen Mutai battled in the 800m registering a PB of 1:45.80 as he placed third in his heat for the auto qualifier. The time is No. 8 all-time for Texas Tech and first time in the top 10 since 2022.
Johnathan Crawford booked his ticket in the 200m with a time of 20.56 (+0.1w) as he placed third in the heat to secure his spot.
The 4x400 team of Johnathan Crawford Shaemar Uter, Brian Tinega and George Garcia clocked in a time of 3:02.44 (SB) to win heat one and book a trip to Oregon. The time was fourth overall tonight and No. 6 all-time for Tech.

·      Brian Tinega missed the cut in the 400m by three spots in 15th with a time of 45.68
·      Soumaila Sabo finished 14th in the triple jump leaping 15.87m (52-0 ¾) (PB)
·      Shaemar Uter missed the cut in the 200m by three spots coming in 15th at 20.73 (+0.1w)
