Tech welcomes No. 11 Baylor for senior day

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders will host the No. 11-ranked Baylor Bears for senior day on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas Tech (12-10, 2-5 Big 12) is coming off two close losses to No. 29 Arizona State and No. 8 Arizona last weekend. Tech dropped their match to the Sun Devils, 4-3. In that contest, the Red Raiders got singles wins from Niksa Arsic, Tyler Stewart and Ludovico Vaccari at the top three courts. Against the Wildcats, Vaccari earned his second ranked singles win of the season with a victory over No. 82 Alexander Rozin, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-1. Tech also forced three sets in all six singles matches.
For the Red Raiders, Arsic and Thiago Guglieri lead the team with 13 dual singles wins apiece, with Arsic's all coming at court one. Behind them is Felipe Pagnacco with 10 dual wins and Vaccari with eight. In dual doubles, the pairing of Arsic and Guglieri have a team-leading 10 wins, all at line one. The tandem of Sebastian Abboud and Stewart are second on the team with a 7-2 record at court two.
Scouting the Opponent
The No. 11 Baylor Bears are tied for second in the Big 12 and hold a 19-7 overall record and 5-1 conference record. They have key wins over UCF, Arizona State, Ohio State and Wake Forest. Currently on a seven-match winning streak, Baylor recently lost to Arizona and SMU. Baylor is led in dual singles by No. 46 Connor Henry Can Schalkwyk with a 15-3 record. Just behind him is Louis Bowden and No. 35 Zsombor Velcz with 13 wins and both No. 7 Devin Badenhorst and Luc Koenig with 10 wins each. In dual doubles, the duo of Velcz and Alexandru Chirita lead the team with nine victories.
