No. 6 Texas Tech finishes fourth at Big 12 Championship
April 29, 2026 | Men's Golf
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — No. 6 Texas Tech closed out the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship with a fourth-place finish on Wednesday at Prairie Dunes Country Club.
The Red Raiders entered the final round in fourth and remained there after carding an 8-over 288 to finish the 72-hole event at 9-over 1129.
Challenging conditions played a factor in Wednesday's final round, as cloudy and blustery weather led to the highest scoring average of the week among all 16 teams at 72.97. TCU and Arizona State posted the low rounds of the day at even par (280).
Tim Wiedemeyer and Adam Bresnu highlighted Texas Tech's championship performance by earning spots on the Big 12 All-Tournament Team. It marks the first time since 2017 that the Red Raiders have had multiple players earn all-tournament honors, when Ivan Ramirez and Fredrik Nilehn accomplished the feat.
Wiedemeyer led Texas Tech with a seventh-place finish at 2-under 278, closing with an even-par 70 in the final round. He was 1-under and bogey-free through his first 11 holes before finishing 1-over on the final seven.
Bresnu tied for ninth at even-par 280 after a final-round 2-over 72. He was 1-under through the front nine before a stretch of four bogeys between holes 11 and 16. Bresnu responded with a birdie on No. 17 and a par on the closing hole.
Ben Gregg shot a final-round 4-over 74 to finish tied for 29th at 6-over 286, while Connor Graham carded a 2-over 72 and tied for 37th at 8-over 288.
Simon Hovdal, who entered the event as an alternate, was inserted into the lineup for the third round in place of Brady McHenry and also competed in the final round. Hovdal carded an even-par 70 in Tuesday's third round and shot a 4-over 74 on Wednesday.
No. 5 Oklahoma State captured the 2026 Big 12 Championship title with a wire-to-wire victory, securing the league's automatic bid to NCAA Regionals. The remainder of the conference will await its postseason fate during the NCAA selection show. Oklahoma State's Preston Stout also claimed the individual title at 11-under.
Texas Tech will now await its postseason destination, which will be announced during the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships Selection Show on May 6 on Golf Channel.
