Tech and ACU set for Tuesday midweek
March 30, 2026 | Baseball
The Red Raiders and Wildcats will play the Lubbock portion of the home-and-home on Tuesday
LUBBOCK, Texas – With a seven-of-eight-game road stretch in the books, the Red Raiders kick off a stretch of seven-of-eight at Rip Griffin Park on Tuesday night when ACU comes to town for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
Playing a home-and-home with ACU for the fifth-straight season, the Red Raiders have won seven-straight over ACU dating back to a 2022 8-5 loss in Lubbock.
A season ago, the Red Raiders swept ACU winning 9-2 in Abilene and 16-4 in run-rule fashion in Lubbock last May. In 2024, the Red Raiders used a program record seven longball to cruise to a 21-3 win in Abilene after a 9-4 win in Lubbock.
The Tuesday night clash with ACU will kick-off a compressed four-game week for the Red Raiders that features a Thursday-Friday-Saturday Easter amended series this weekend against Houston.
On Tuesday, Tech and head coach Tim Tadlock will turn to right-hander Adam Hayes who tossed a career-high five shutout innings last week against New Mexico to earn his first career win. Hayes will be making his third-straight Tuesday start after pitching two weeks ago at DBU and in the win against UNM.

HEADLINES IN 1-2-3:
* Texas Tech looks to rebound on Tuesday night when it welcomes ACU for the start of a busy four game home week and a stretch of six of the next seven games at home. Fresh off a six-of-seven stretch of road games, the Red Raiders will look to snap a season-long three-game losing streak after the team was swept over the weekend, twice falling by a singular run in TCUs final at-bat of the game after entering the frame with lead. On Saturday the Red Raiders saw a 9-8 lead turn into a 10-9 walk-off loss before the Horned Frogs flipped a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 win on Sunday to convert the series sweep. The Red Raiders left 32 runners on-base in the three game series against the Horned Frogs and failed to score six runs for the first time in 24 games.
* After winning just 12 times in 25 games at home a season ago, the Red Raiders have faired much better at The Rip in 2026, as Tech is 13-3 through the first 16 home games and has already eclipsed it's 2025 run total at home in nine fewer games. After scoring just 189 total times at home a season ago, the Red Raiders by virtue of last week's 12-2 win over UNM have now scored 196 times at Rip Griffin Park and are now hitting .397 at home. The Red Raiders have scored 10+ or more  runs in 12 of the 16 home games.
Â
* As the season inches toward its mid point, seven Red Raiders were selected as a Top-50 player (100 for outfielders) at their respective position in the mid-season D1Baseball positional rankings. Highlighted by top 2026 MLB Draft prospect Logan Hughes who was tabbed the 10th-best outfielder in the country as well as third baseman Connor Shouse who checked in at No. 11 on the third base list, the Red Raiders saw every member of the infield selected. Starting with catcher Matt Quintanar, the Red Raiders were represented at catcher, first base, second base, third base, shortstop and twice in the outfield.
