Tech on the road at Houston, UCF

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 30 Texas Tech Lady Raiders will go on the road to take on the No. 36 Houston Cougars and the No. 20 UCF Knights. Tech will face the Cougars this Friday at 1 p.m. before heading to Orlando, Fla., to play the Knights on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
Houston holds a 16-10 all-time record over Texas Tech. However, the Lady Raiders are on a five-match winning streak against the Cougars dating back to 2016. Tech got a 4-0 sweep on March 21, 2025 in the two teams' last meeting. The Lady Raiders hold a 3-0 all-time record over UCF, picking up two of those wins last year. In the last meeting, Tech defeated UCF, 4-2, on April 20, 2025 to claim the Big 12 Tournament title.
Texas Tech (12-4, 3-1 Big 12) is led in dual singles wins by Hailey Murphy, who boasts a 9-2 record with seven of those victories coming at court one. Mariia Hlahola is just behind with eight dual singles wins, followed by both Ella Brownback and Havana Kadi with six wins apiece. In dual doubles, the No. 55 duo of Murphy and Yekaterina Dmitrichenko lead the team with a 12-3 record, all coming at court one. Brownback and Polina Sleptsova are second with a 6-1 dual record at court three.
Scouting the Opponents
The No. 36 Houston Cougars are 11-2 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play so far. The Cougars have recent wins over No. 29 BYU, No. 35 Utah and UTSA. Houston's two losses have come against Arizona and No. 12 Arizona State. In dual singles, the Cougars are led by Sophie Schouten, who is a perfect 10-0 on the year, all coming at court five. Just behind her are both Valeriia Krokhotina and Chems Doha Zeghlouli with eight wins each. The No. 89 doubles team of Schouten and Zeghlouli are 8-2 at court one, while the pair of Elizaveta Morozova and Petja Drame lead the team with a 9-1 record, all at court three.
The No. 20 UCF Knights are 10-2 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play. The Knights recently defeated No. 12 Arizona State, No. 35 Utah and No. 29 BYU, while also adding wins over Miami and Florida State. Their two losses have come against No. 18 UCLA and No. 73 Arizona. The Knights are led in overall singles wins by Marina Gatell with a 17-5 record, followed by both Jade Psonka and Lauren Seye with 16 wins apiece. There is a doubles team ranked nationally for UCF in No. 80 Olivia Bergler and Seye, who are 6-1 in dual doubles matches this year.
