No. 20 Lady Raiders on the road at Kansas

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 20 Texas Tech Lady Raiders are on the road for a game against the Kansas Jayhawks on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse. The Lady Raiders lead the all-time series against the Jayhawks, 28-19, winning the last game versus Kansas in Lubbock by a 70-65 score on Feb. 10. Texas Tech is on a two-game winning streak against Kansas.
Junior Jalynn Bristow was on fire against Colorado last Saturday. In the game, she led the team with 18 points, three steals and five blocks. Shooting 5-for-6 from the field (.833) and 4-for-5 from behind the arc (.800), Bristow totaled a career-best in assists (3) and threes. She totaled her 15th double-figure scoring game, while adding her team-best 12th three-plus block game, third 5+ block game and 20th game this season leading the team in blocks. She ranks ninth nationally and first in the Big 12 with 65 blocks so far, while also leading the conference and ranking 11th in the nation with 2.24 blocks per game. She currently checks in at eighth all-time in single-season blocks.
The Lady Raiders are good at blocking shots. Currently, Texas Tech ranks ninth nationally and second in the Big 12 with 5.8 blocks per game. In Tech's last game at Colorado on Feb. 21, the Lady Raiders totaled 10 blocks, their third time this season with double-figure blocks in a game. In the second quarter, the Lady Raiders tied a program record for most blocks in a second period. The last time Tech had 5+ blocks in a quarter was on Dec. 22, 2019 against Louisiana-Monroe.
The Lady Raiders have shot above .500 in the last two games. Against No. 15 Baylor on Feb. 18, Texas Tech went 34-for-61 from the field (.557) and 8-for-21 from three (.381) to defeat the Bears, 87-56. At Colorado, the Lady Raiders had their highest shooting clip from the field and from three at 59.1 percent (26-for-44) and 53.8 percent (7-for-13), respectively. This is the third time this season recording back-to-back games with .500 or better shooting from the field. The last time it happened before this year was in December 2024.
Senior Bailey Maupin is having a career season, leading the team in points per game (15.9), free throws (111) and threes (61). She currently ranks fifth in career scoring (1,767 points) and is one point away from fourth, eighth in field goal attempts (1,356), fourth in 3-pointers made (191), third in 3-pointer attempts (581), third in free throws made (468), fifth in free throw attempts (561) and fourth in free throw percentage (.834).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Kansas Jayhawks are 17-11 overall and 7-9 in Big 12 play. In the Jayhawks' last two games since falling to Tech on Feb. 10 by a 65-70 score, Kansas has defeated Houston, 85-68, as well as Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., 75-68. The Jayhawks are averaging 73.9 points per game and holding opponents to 66.3 points per game. Shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from behind the arc, the Jayhawks are also averaging 15.2 assists per game and 34.8 rebounds per game. Kansas is led in scoring by freshman Jaliya Davis (21.3ppg) and S'mya Nichols (18.0ppg). On the rebounding side, Lilly Meister leads the team with 6.7 per game followed by Davis with 6.2.
