Red Raiders wrap up Friday night meets

Texas Tech was split between two cites today – Boston and Lubbock
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech indoor track and field team completed its first day of competition in Boston and Lubbock Friday evening. Only the men middle-distance/distance squads competed in Boston as the women will go tomorrow afternoon.

Jarvis Scott
Zaid Latif provided the first win of the day for Tech in the men's long jump with a SB mark of 7.79m (25-6 ¾).
All four women entered in the 400m set new PB times, led by Vanessa Balde in fifth (53.54) and Mekenze Kelley in sixth (53.63). Savanna Camacho (56.59) and Brooklyn Kinsey (59.26) finished 34th and 80th, respectively. On the men's side, only Elijah Ferguson was entered but he set a new PB time of 47.35 (10th).
Malachi Snow made the men's 60m final but was a DNS after clocking in a 6.55 in the semifinals. A few moments after the 60m finals, Tonie-Ann Forbes shined in the 60m hurdles with a new PB time of 8.03, good for No. 10 in Tech history.
Olayinka Olajide placed second in the 60m final with a new PB time of 7.32.

Stephen Mutai won his heat in the 800m with a time of 1:47.50 – No. 10 all-time for Tech. Overall, it was the 12th best time of the evening. In the 3k, Titus Kimaru placed 15th with a time of 7:56.63 – No. 8 all-time for Tech. Victor Kipkoech capped off the night for the men in the 5k, placing eighth in heat 1 with a time of 13:43.14 – No. six all-time for Tech.
