Arsic named Big 12 Player of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas – After going 4-0 to help the Red Raiders sweep both New Mexico State and UTRGV this past weekend, junior Niksa Arsic was named the Big 12 Player of the Week announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Arsic earned his first career weekly conference award with an undefeated Saturday. In Tech's first match against New Mexico State, Arsic and teammate Thiago Guglieri paired up at the top court to clinch the doubles point with a 7-5 win over Holland Snell and Lance Urlaub. He would make the match 2-0 in Tech's favor with a straight set win over Roko Stipetic, 6-0, 6-4, also at court one.

Against UTRGV, Arsic and Guglieri aided the Red Raiders to another doubles point after defeating Sam Whitehead and Will Roberts, 6-1. Arsic clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Ivo Isqueiro at the top court to cap off the weekend without dropping a set. Arsic ties for the team lead with five dual singles wins and six dual doubles wins, all coming at court one.

Up next, the Red Raiders host Louisiana and New Mexico this Friday and Sunday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
