HEADLINES IN 1-2-3:
* Fresh off their first run-rule win of the season against ACU on Tuesday afternoon, Texas Tech Baseball closes the regular season at BYU this Thursday-through-Saturday for the first all-time matchup in Provo. In just BYUs second season in the Big 12, Tech played host the Cougars a season ago, winning two out of three in the first all-time matchup between the conference foes.
Â
* With just three games left in the regular season, Tech currently sits ninth in the Big 12 standings, just one win ahead of Houston. Having already clinched a spot in the 12-team field of the Big 12 Championship, the Red Raiders can still finish anywhere between seven and 11 in the final standings. If the Red Raiders are the seven seed they would face the 10 seed at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (May 21) while the eight and ninth seed are scheduled to play at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both contests are set to air on ESPNU.
* The Red Raiders close both the non-conference and home slates on Tuesday afternoon against ACU as Tech mashed five home runs and stole eight bases in the first run rule victory of the season for the Red Raiders. Senior Robin Villeneuve mashed three homers becoming the first Red Raider since Kevin Bazzell to connect on three home runs in a game. Tech also got homers from Damian Bravo and Logan Hughes. Hughes' blast was his 18th, tying him for the Big 12 overall lead. The outfielder also moved into seventh place all-time on the single-season home run list.Â
