DALLAS – Texas Tech outfielder Logan Hughes was named a Preseason Third Team All-American, while catcher and Blinn transfer Matt Quintanar checked in on the NCBWA Fourth Team, the publication announced Friday.
One day after being named a Preseason All-Big 12 selection by a vote of the league's coaches, Hughes received his first career All-America honor with his third team selection.
A native of Deland, Hughes hit .327 a season ago for the Red Raiders, launching a Big 12-best 19 home runs and 58 RBIs. The lefty hitter slugged a team-best .697 and hit 11 of his 19 longballs in Big 12 play. Hughes hit .376 in Big 12 contests recording a team-best OPS of 1.196 over the 30 league games.
Tech's other All-American, Quintanar, arrives in Lubbock after a decorated JUCO career at both Central Arizona (2024) and Blinn College (2025), where he earned Third Team All-American status last season after hitting .411 with 15 home runs and 50 RBIs. Quintanar walked 40 times and struck out just 23 times.
Hughes, Quintanar and the Red Raiders open the 2026 regular season on Friday (Feb. 13) morning against Oklahoma. First pitch from Globe Life Field is set for 11 a.m. Â
