Maupin also led the team with seven rebounds, six assists and a block.

The Utes were able to take an 8-3 lead on a jumper halfway through the quarter as both teams remained scoreless heading into the media timeout at 3:27. Out of the timeout, Loghan Johnson drove it to the basket for a tough layup before the Utes made another three. Shavers answered with a long-range jumper as Utah led 11-7. Utah then took a 19-15 lead before Texas Tech went on an 8-2 run thanks to threes from Shavers and Maupin as well as layup from Maya Peat to lead for the first time in the game, 23-21. Coming out of the media timeout, Tech got a second chance layup from Sanogo thanks to a dish from Adlee Blacklock, then Jalynn Bristow made the team's six three of the game for a 28-21 advantage.
