Red Raiders finish 13th in Bay Area tournament

FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Texas Tech women's golf team completed the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on Tuesday, finishing in 13th place. The Red Raiders carded a 15-over-par 303 in Tuesday's final round, capping a challenging week on the West Coast that started with a 300 (+12) and 299 (+11) during Monday's first two rounds.
Klara Hurtova led the Red Raiders individually for the second consecutive tournament, dating back to last week's Chevron Collegiate in the Houston area. This week, she fired a pair of 1-over-par 73s, in the first and third rounds, and a 3-over 75 in round two. Hurtova's third round on Tuesday had just one blemish, a double bogey on hole No. 16, shortly after a shotgun start on hole No. 13. She proceeded to go bogey-free over the next 14 holes with one birdie on hole No. 1 (par 5, 492 yards).Â
Hurtova's 54-hole 5-over-par (221) slotted her tied for 30th in a field of 78 players at Meadow Club.Â
Maja Ambroziak and Libby Fleming were two additional Red Raiders to finish in the top 50. Ambroziak finished tied for 42nd with a final round 3-over-par 75 while Fleming's 6-over 78 dropped her into a tie for 50th after capping Monday's first two rounds atop the Red Raiders' leaderboard at T-29th.Â
Texas Tech will have the next 10 days off from competition before the Valspar Augusta Invitational, March 15-16. The event will be held at Forest Hills Golf Club, located less than five miles from the famed Augusta National Golf Club.
