CORINTH, Texas — Texas Tech women's golf junior Klara Hurtova, competing as an individual, sits in the top 10 at 5-under-par through 36 holes at the Sam Golden Invitational, shooting a 70 and 69 at Oakmont Country Club on Monday. Meanwhile, sophomore Denisa Vodickova leads the way with the top team score at 4-under-par (70-70) and sits tied for 12th place.
Â
Despite playing her first eight holes in 1-over-par, Hurtova bounced back playing her final 10 holes in 4-under-par in the second round. She carded three birdies over four holes during her first round across holes No. 15 and No. 18 on her way to share a tie for eighth in her first action of the fall season.
Â
Vodickova, a transfer from Wake Forest, jumped up five spots from the first round to the second round, as she holed six birdies during her second round en route to a 2-under-par round of 70.
Â
Missouri commands the 36-hole lead at 24-under-par by eight shots over Louisville. The Red Raiders are in a tie for eighth place at 11-under-par.
Â
Missouri's Ebba Liljeberg's bogey-free 11-under-par round of 61 expanded her nine-shot lead over North Texas's Bouquet Subsomboon.
Play resumes Tuesday morning with the third and final round of the Sam Golden Invitational. All participants will start at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start to close out play.
