
Lady Raiders head to Iowa

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders head to Ames, Iowa to take on the Iowa State Cyclones on Tuesday, January 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State leads the all-time series against the Lady Raiders with a 29-16 record. Texas Tech defeated Iowa State last season on Jan. 17, 2024 by a 71-63 score. However, the Cyclones have won seven of the last eight games dating back to 2021.
Bailey Maupin recorded a career-high of 28 points in the Big 12 opener against Houston after going 10-for-18 from the field and 4-for-5 from the three. She then posted 21 points at No. 11 Kansas State to lead the team. Once again, Maupin had a 20-plus point game in conference when she led the game with 23 points against TCU on Jan. 11, while also leading with a career-high of eight rebounds. She averages 18.0 points per game in conference play and now ties for the team-lead with 14.3 points per game this season.
The Lady Raiders held No. 10 TCU to its third lowest scoring of the year with 69 points on Saturday, also 13 points under their average of 82 points. The Lady Raiders also had their second lowest amount of turnovers in the game with 13 - making this just the third time this season with 13 or less turnovers. In addition, the Lady Raiders recorded their best shooting at the free throw line as a team, boasting a season-high of 93.8 percent after going 15-for-16 at the line.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Iowa State Cyclones are 12-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Tey have key wins over Arizona, Arizona State, Kansas, and Middle Tennessee. Some losses were against South Carolina, Iowa, UConn, Oklahoma State and Utah. The Cyclones are averaging 76.5 points per game and holding opponents to just 65.8 points per game. Shooting 46.6 percent from the field, the Cyclones average 38.3 rebounds per game and 13.5 assists per game. The Cyclones are led in scoring by Audi Crooks with 22.3 points per game as well as Addy Brown with 13.4. Both Crooks and Brown lead the team in rebounding with 7.6 per game apiece.
